Definitions of common terms used in the site.

Digital Guidebook
A digital guidebook is an online resource that provides vacation rental guests property details, check-in instructions, house rules, and local recommendations in one accessible and structured way. It is an alternative to traditional printed welcome books and can be updated at any time.
Main Dashboard
In Place Pilot context, the main dashboard is the place where you can manage your digital guidebooks. Functionalities like adding, editing, removing, publishing and sharing a digital guidebook are available.
Vacation Rental
A furnished property rented to guests for short stays, usually ranging from a few nights to several weeks. These properties are commonly booked through platforms like Airbnb or through direct booking websites.
Welcome book
A printed material that is made available at a property for guests to read.
Online Welcome Guide
A web-based version of a traditional welcome book that guests can access from their phone, tablet, or computer before and during their stay.
Digital guidebook template
An online template that organizes guest related information in a structured way; made available by hosts through a secure and shareable link.
Check-In Instructions
Information that helps guests access the property on arrival. This may include directions, parking details, entry codes, lockbox steps, and check-in times.
Self Check-In
A check-in method that allows guests to enter the property without meeting the host in person.
House Rules
Guidelines set by the host that outline acceptable behavior during the stay. These may include policies about noise, pets, smoking, visitors, and property care.
Guest Experience
The overall comfort, satisfaction, and impression a guest has throughout their stay. It is influenced by communication, property quality, and available information.
Local Recommendations
Suggestions provided by the host about nearby restaurants, bars, attractions, activities, and services to help guests explore the area.
Wi-Fi Credentials
The network name and password required for guests to access the property's internet connection.
Guest Communication
Messages exchanged between host and guest before, during, and after a stay, often related to check-in, property questions, or local information.
Direct Booking
A reservation made directly through a host's website or booking system, rather than through third-party platforms.
QR Code
A barcode that guests can scan with their phone to open a web link. In the context of Place Pilot guests can scan it to open a digital guidebook. Usually placed inside the property or at the reception.
Live Demo
A demonstration of a guidebook as experienced by a guest. It contains an actual guidebook that can contain a real property or a fictional one for demonstrating all the features of the digital guidebook.
Real-time views count
A functionality in the platform that allows viewing the number of views as soon as they happen without any delay.
Stripe billing
A functionality in the platform that uses the third party Stripe to collect monthly payments using a subscription.
VAT
Value added tax. At Place Pilot all prices shown already include VAT.
PDF
A file format for capturing and sending electronic documents in exactly the intended format.
Photo Walkthroughs
A photo based explanation of obtaining a goal. In Place Pilot you can create photo walkthroughs independently of guidebooks, providing a simplified version of a guidebook for hosts that care just about informing guests of how they arrive to the place location.
Welcome Screen
The first page of the digital guidebook that the guests see once they open the digital guidebook.
Mobile preview
A preview of the guidebook without having to create a shareable link. The preview depicts how the actual guidebook would look on the guest's mobile.
GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a comprehensive EU law, effective since May 25, 2018, that strengthens individuals' rights over their personal data and mandates strict data protection standards for organizations. It applies to any entity handling EU residents' data, regardless of the organization's location, with heavy penalties for non-compliance.
PMS
Property management software. A centralized software application designed to automate, manage, and optimize the daily operations of hospitality, residential, or commercial real estate.
